As the world of online dating continues to expand, some Washingtonians seek an old-fashioned approach. Catering to the needs of busy professionals, Georgetown's own cupid, Ann Wood, is making matches long after Valentine's Day has come and gone.

"Interesting people aren't sitting in bars.  They're out doing interesting things." said Wood.

The old fashioned art of matchmaking is back.  Ann Wood used to be a journalist.  I'd never met a matchmaker who was a reporter first.

Ann Wood, the matchmaker, said a surprising number of men in their mid-30s know how to cook.  "There's a generation gap that runs through the 40s somewhere," Ms.  Wood said.   "Older men may know how to cook but will leave it to others because of the way they were reared.  Roles are just not as rigid as they used to be."

 
 

"What I like to hear is, 'She was just as you described her.' That means I've given you good information, and you felt comfortable with it," says Wood.

"There are more professional singles here than in any other metropolitan area in the country," says Ann Wood.
